Belajar Preposition in Time Expressions dalam Bahasa Inggris
Sore ini dengan kondisi tubuh yang tidak begitu sehat, saya masih menyempatkan diri untuk belajar dari salah satu video yang yang di unggah oleh channel Anglo-Link. Kali ini saya belajar tentang kata depan atau Preposition dalam bahasa Inggris. Dalam video saya menemukan penjelasan tentang preposition beserta contoh dan latihannya yang di kemas sedemikian rupa sehingga enak untuk dipelajari. Dalam tulisan ini saya akan menuliskan apa yang ada di dalam video tersebut tanpa mengartikannya ke dalam bahasa Indonesia karena lebih baik kalau saya memahami dalam bahasa Inggris.
Berikut pembahasan Preposition in Time Expressions
A few tips - at
at + precise time : at 5:30, at noon, at sunrise
at + word ’time’ & ‘moment’ : at that time, at the
moment
at + special times of the year : at Christmas, at Easter
at night = during the night
at the weekend (British English) = during the weekend (American
English : on the weekend)
A few tips: on & in
On + day & date: on Monday, on 15th June
On + word ‘day’ and ‘ date’ : on Independence Day, on
that date
In + month, season & year: in January, in winter, in
1999
Note :
- in 5 days = when 5 days are over
- Within 5 days = between now and 5 days from now
- On time = at the arranged time
- In time = not too late
A few tips – for, during, since & while
For + a length of time: for 2 hours, for 3 days
During + an activity: during the speech, during the trip
During (on in)+ a period : during the morning, during the
day, during this month, but you can also say in the morning, in the day, in the
month
Since + point of time in the past until now: since 9:30,
since his arrival
While + an action: while sleeping or (with the verb) While I was sleeping
A few tips – until & by
‘until’ marks the end of an action:
I’ll be here until Wednesday.
She worked until midnight yesterday
By = before/ no later than:
I will have finished this report by Wednesday
By noon yesterday, we had been waiting for 3 hours.
